Got calls at work asking for patient info, couldn't verify who they were

I got a call at the hospital where I work. It was from Evergreen Nephrology. They were asking for an admitted patient by name and wanted medical information. So I asked for the last four of the patient's social to verify, and the rep couldn't provide it. That felt off.

This happened two days in a row. The thing is, this patient isn't even registered with a nephrologist and doesn't need that kind of care. It just didn't make sense.
