Scammer on Facebook Marketplace asked for Zelle payment and extra $150 for "insurance"

I was trying to buy something on Facebook Marketplace. The seller told me to pay through Zelle, which I did. Then right after, they asked for an additional $150 for what they called "insurance purposes." That was the big red flag for my son. I realized it was a scam. The person's phone number is (213) 659-1410 and their email is [email protected]. I lost $225 total.

Ordered jackets from a Facebook ad, got charged and nothing came

I saw an ad for jackets on something like Facebook Marketplace. I clicked it and the jackets were even cheaper than the ad showed. I picked about 80 dollars worth of jackets and tops. They discounted it further and took off like 221 dollars or so. The jackets were only 4 or 5 dollars each. I am so dumb!

I paid 59 dollars. I never got any tracking info or anything. No jackets ever came. There's no website to check on the order, no customer service. I just got charged and that was it. The whole thing feels off now.

Ordered a mystery palette from Facebook Marketplace, got cheap headphones instead

I saw an ad on Facebook Marketplace for an Amazon Warehouse returns super giant Mystery palette. It was listed for $59.99 plus tax, so I paid a total of $68.99. The seller was supposedly from Kent, WA.

What I got in the mail was just one cheap pair of headphones. I looked them up and they're listed on Amazon's site for $14.99. It's not even close to what was advertised.

I'm planning to file a dispute through PayPal for this. I'm posting this here too, hoping it might stop someone else from making the same mistake I did.

Sent a deposit for a gazebo and now my credit card has fraud

I saw a post on Facebook Marketplace for an outdoor gazebo for $185. The seller asked for a deposit to hold it, so I sent $20 through Zelle. They also asked for a screenshot of the payment details, so I sent one but I blocked out my account number.

Now my credit card has all this fraudulent activity. My credit card company actually called me because someone tried to get $1000 from my account. I had to close all my accounts at my bank because of it. I'm also getting a ton of spam calls now. This all started right after I sent that deposit.

Paid for a house rental on Facebook but never got the keys

My friend saw a house for rent on Facebook Marketplace. She contacted the seller and they even gave her a code to go look inside. They told her to pay an application fee, a deposit, and the first and last month's rent to get the house. So she sent all the money, it came to $4547. She paid through Apple Pay and Cash App to different accounts they kept sending.

Now the person just keeps stalling and won't give her the keys. We have the phone number, an email, and an address in Gardendale, Alabama they used, but nothing is happening. She paid all that money and has nothing to show for it.

Sent $300 for a puppy and got nothing, no refund

I saw this cute puppy for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The person had pictures and said the total was $700. They told me to send a partial payment of $300 first, and the rest would be due when the puppy was delivered. So I sent the $300.

Literally two minutes after I sent the money, they texted me saying I had to pay the full remaining balance before they would deliver anything. That felt wrong, so I immediately said I wanted my money back and that we were done. They never refunded my $300. I never got a puppy either. The contact was through a phone number (708) 506-1624 and an email [email protected], saying they were in Chicago.
