Got a weird text about my car warranty expiring

I got this text message out of nowhere. It said my records show I haven't contacted them to activate my vehicle service contract. They're telling me my "factor warranty" has expired and I'll have to pay for any repairs myself. The message came from a phone number: (888) 646-0339. It said they're based in Washington, DC. I never signed up for anything with them, and I definitely don't have a "factor warranty." It just felt like a scam trying to scare me. I didn't click anything or lose money, but it was an unwanted and confusing message.
