Got trapped in a lease and lost my money when my work assignment was cancelled

I got a text about a rental from Furnished Finder for a place in Albany. I was moving there for a short-term work assignment. The contact was [email protected] and the phone number was (518) 646-9675. The address given was 47 Park Lane South, Albany.

They had me sign what was basically a 12-month lease, even though I only needed a short-term rental. I paid $1100. Then my work assignment got cancelled. When I tried to get out of it, they kept all my money because of the contract. It feels like they set this up to trap people like me who are just in town for work. They took my paycheck when my job fell through.
