Loan application asking for asset proof before approval

I got an email from [email protected] about a loan. They said I needed to send proof of an asset I own free and clear, like a house or a newer car or something worth enough. Said the appraisal would take 5 to 7 business days.

It just felt off. They wanted all this info about what I own before they even said yes to the loan. I didn't send anything and I didn't lose any money but it didn't feel right. The address they gave was in Winnipeg, MB. Phone number was (431) 451-6537. I just wanted to put this out there.
