Took my rent deposit for an apartment that wasn't real

I found this place online through their website goodlivingrealtyinc.com, seemed legit. They had an address at 799 Broadway in New York, so I figured it was a real company. I called the number (646) 247-9954 and talked to someone, they sounded professional enough.

They asked for a down payment on the rent, said it was to hold the apartment. I sent them $6,000. The email came from [email protected] so I thought it was fine. Then when I tried to set up a time to see the place, nobody would answer the phone. I went to the address and it's not even a real rental office or anything.

I never got the keys, never saw the apartment. They just took my money and disappeared. No company name on the lease they sent either, just a bunch of fake stuff.
