Got a call about a loan but they wanted an upfront fee

I got a call from Greenoaks Lending Corp. They said they don't refuse anyone for a loan. It sounded okay at first. Then they said because my credit score wasn't high enough, I needed to pay an upfront fee for a "private lender."

I told the guy who called me that I thought lenders couldn't ask for fees upfront. He said it was the "private lenders" who required it. He said I wouldn't have to start paying the loan back for two months and there was no penalty for paying it off early. It just felt wrong. I'm not getting sucked into a scam. How do people sleep at night doing this?
