Text saying they work for Comcast but something feels off

I got a text message from this company saying they were acting on behalf of Comcast & Company. It said I would start getting texts from Harris & Harris. I don’t even know who these people are.

A few months ago I got another fraud attempt from some other company claiming they were working with Comcast too. So this feels weird. I haven’t lost any money yet but I’m concerned. They didn’t say what the debt was or show any proof. Just a random text out of nowhere.

Text from debt collector about a Spectrum bill I never had

I got a text from some company called Harris & Harris saying they are a debt collector for Charter Comms, which I guess is Spectrum. The first one just said I’d now get texts from them and gave a number to call, 844-908-0168. I didn’t think much of it.

Then another text came in a little while later. It said my name and that the balance was $282.20. They gave a link to pay and the same phone number. But I never had an account with Spectrum. I don’t owe them anything. I have no idea where this debt came from or why they are texting me. It just feels weird. I never signed up for anything with them.

Text about a debt for a license plate I never had

I got a text message saying Harris & Harris collects for Pocahontas Parkway and I owe $6666.15 on my account for a license plate. It gave me a link to pay and a phone number to call.

I don’t even know what Pocahontas Parkway is and I never got any letter before this. The whole thing felt weird right away. I didn’t click the link or call the number.

No company name was really clear on the text itself, just the phone number and the link. I have no idea if this is real or just someone trying to get money.

Texts from Harris and Harris about a Spectrum debt I never knew about

I started getting texts from Harris & Harris saying they are a debt collector for Charter Comms, which is Spectrum. They gave me a link to their terms and a number to call, 844-908-0168. I never heard of this debt before.

The texts say message and data rates may apply and that I can opt out by replying STOP. But I don't even know what this is about. I didn't lose any money but it feels strange getting these messages out of nowhere. No one from Spectrum ever contacted me about anything.

The address they gave is Delta, OH. I just want to know why they're texting me.

Debt collection text for a Washington DC balance I know nothing about

I got a text message saying Harris & Harris is collecting for the Government of Washington DC. They said I owe $240. There was a link to pay at https://hhcollect.co/JYVjWv and a phone number to call at (855) 319-7310.

I don't live in DC and I have no idea what this is for. The address they gave is in Woodbridge, VA. It just felt off. No proof or anything, just a text telling me to pay or reply STOP. I didn't lose any money but it was weird.

Text saying I owe Spectrum money with someone else's name on it

I got a text message saying I was in debt collections with Harris & Harris for Charter Comms, which is Spectrum. It told me to click a link to pay my balance. But the thing is, the text addressed me by a name that isn't mine. I don't know who that is.

Then a few days later I got another text telling me to return my Spectrum equipment so they could put a credit on my account. I never had Spectrum equipment. I didn't click the link. The phone number that sent them was (844) 908-0168.

Text saying I owe Cox Communications money with no proof

I got a text from some company called Harris & Harris saying they’re a debt collector for Cox Communications. It said something like “you will now receive texts” and gave a link to their website. The number was (844) 908-1741.

I don’t even know if I owe anything. They didn’t say how much or give me any real details. Just a link and a number to call.

I haven’t lost any money but it felt strange getting a text out of nowhere like that. No company name on the message really. Just Harris & Harris.

Text about a Spectrum debt I don’t owe with a different phone number

I got a text from the number 69534 saying I’d be getting texts from Harris & Harris, a debt collector for Charter Comms (Spectrum). I never had any services with Spectrum so I don’t owe them anything.

I looked up Harris & Harris online and saw they’re a real company but the phone number in the text doesn’t match their actual business number. So this is clearly not them. I didn’t lose any money but it’s annoying getting these messages for a debt that isn’t mine.

Text saying I owe Spectrum money with a link to pay

On 6/08/2026 at 11:39 AM central time I got a text out of nowhere. It said I would now be getting texts from Harris & Harris a debt collector on behalf of Spectrum. Then right after that I got another text saying I could pay only 70% of my balance for Spectrum.

I clicked the first link they sent and it was just terms and conditions. I did not click the second link that would take me to pay the balance. Something felt off about it.

Text saying I owe money to Pennsylvania Turnpike with no proof

Got a text from 69534 saying I’m now getting messages from Harris & Harris, a debt collector for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. It gave a phone number 833-480-8973 and said message and data rates apply.

I have no idea what this is about. I don’t owe anything to the turnpike that I know of. The text didn’t say how much or what for, just that I’d be getting messages now. No company address either except PA.

I never got any letter or bill first. Just this text out of nowhere. Feels off.

Text from Harris & Harris about a Nissan Rogue I don’t own

Got a text from Harris & Harris saying they’re a debt collector for something called Pocahontas Parkway. It says I owe $105.95 for a 2020 Nissan Rogue with plate WPB2163. I don’t even know what Pocahontas Parkway is and I’ve never owned that car.

The text gave a link to pay and a number to call, 866-635-3796. It just feels weird. I didn’t reply or click anything. No company name on the text besides Harris & Harris and I never got any mail about this before. Just the random text out of nowhere.

Got a text saying I owe money to the state of Maryland

I just got a text message out of nowhere. It says "Welcome! You will now receive texts from Harris & Harris, a Debt Collector on behalf of STATE OF MARYLAND, CCU." The number it came from is (855) 336-5124.

I don't know anything about this. I never signed up for texts from a debt collector. I don't believe I owe the state of Maryland any money. It feels like a mistake or something. The text even says message and data rates may apply, so now I'm worried about getting charged for these messages I never asked for. I replied STOP to opt out, but I shouldn't have had to do that.

Got a text about a debt I don't owe from Maryland CCU

I got a text message from Harris & Harris saying it was on behalf of Maryland CCU. It had my name and said, "Harris&Harris-collects for STATE OF MARYLAND, CCU. Balance: $140.00."

It told me to pay at a website, harriscollect.payweb360.com, or call 855-336-5124. I don't have any debt with Maryland CCU. I don't know what this is for. The text came from the phone number (410) 215-4624.

I never agreed to anything with them. Now they're saying I owe $140 out of nowhere. It doesn't make sense.

Getting texts about a debt for someone we don't know

I got a text that said, "Welcome? You will now receive texts from Harris & Harris, a Debt Collector on behalf of Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission." It had a link to hhcollect.co/Harris and a phone number, (833) 480-8973. Then another text came addressed to a name, "********," saying there was a balance of $36.52 and a link to pay. I can't even type the whole link, it was harriscollect.payweb360.com and a bunch of other stuff.

We don't know anyone by that name. It's not anyone in our family. Now I've gotten three more texts, all starting with that same wrong name, and the amount they say is owed has gone up to $291.08. It just doesn't make sense.

Getting texts about a Washington DC debt I don't owe

I keep getting text messages from a company called Harris & Harris saying I owe money. The texts say it's for the Government of Washington DC and that I have a balance of $120. They give a link to pay and a phone number.

I have never lived in Washington DC and I don't owe this debt. I don't know why they are texting me. I tried to reply STOP to make it stop, but I'm still getting them. It doesn't make any sense to me.

My daughter got a text from a debt collector that seems fake

My daughter got a text that looked very real. I looked up Harris & Harris and they are a real collection agency. But the phone number didn't match. The text had a link that actually went to the real Harris & Harris website. The number in the text is (855) 336-5124 and the link was harriscollect.payweb360.co. It says the address is in MD, USA. Something just feels off about it.

Got a text saying I owe money to Spectrum from a debt collector

I got a text message out of nowhere. It says "Welcome! You will now receive texts from Harris & Harris, a Debt Collector on behalf of Charter Comms (Spectrum)." It gave a link and a phone number, 844-908-0174.

I don't have any debt with Spectrum. I've never even been a customer. The text says to reply STOP to opt out, but I shouldn't have to opt out of something I never signed up for. It feels like a scam trying to get people to click their link or call their number. I didn't click anything, but getting this message was unsettling.

Getting texts about a T-Mobile debt I don't owe

I got a text from Harris & Harris saying they're a debt collector and I owe money to T-Mobile. The thing is, I've never even been a T-Mobile customer. I've never used them, so this debt isn't mine. The text came from the phone number (844) 548-8080 and mentioned a website PAY-HH.COM. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Got a text saying I owe T-Mobile money from a debt collector

I got this text message out of the blue. It says "Welcome! You will now receive texts from Harris & Harris, a Debt Collector on behalf of T-Mobile." I don't have any debt with T-Mobile. I've never even been a T-Mobile customer.

The text had a link to https://hhcollect.co/Harris and another one to https://PAY-HH.com/p/mqWaHrHh. It told me to call 844-548-8080 for payment options. This feels really off because I don't owe them anything. I replied STOP to opt out, but I shouldn't be getting these messages at all.

Got a text from a debt collector for Comcast, but I don't owe anything.

I got a text from the number 69534. It said, "Welcome! You will now receive texts from Harris & Harris, a Debt Collector on behalf of Comcast Cable." Then another one came right after about payment options. It had links to hhcollect.co and PAY-HH.COM and a phone number, 844-908-0248.

The thing is, I don't have any debt with Comcast Cable. I've never even been a Comcast customer. So this text felt completely random and wrong. I don't know why they're contacting me or where they got my number. It just doesn't make any sense.
