Job offer for data entry asked me to deposit a check for equipment

I applied for a remote data entry clerk job. Got an email going through the onboarding stuff. Since it was remote they said they would provide home office equipment but needed to deposit a check into my bank account first so I could buy it from their approved vendors.

Then I got another email saying they needed alternative banking info because they can't deposit checks to accounts associated with my bank. Something about delays and check rejections. That just felt off to me. Their website is hbpowerwash.com and the email came from [email protected]. Phone number they gave was (410) 934-7315 and they have an address on 25th Street in Baltimore. I didn't lose any money but it seemed strange.
