Facebook ad for a free saxophone turned into a shipping payment request

I saw this ad on Facebook Marketplace for a free saxophone. It seemed like a nice offer so I messaged the seller, Barbara Gore. She gave me this long sob story and then said I should contact her sister, Helen Watson, at [email protected].

So I emailed Helen and got a reply that felt kind of automated. She told me to text her cousin about the saxophone. The cousin said I’d have to pay for shipping from Nevada. That’s when it felt off. No one was actually giving me a saxophone for free, it was just about getting money for shipping.

I didn’t send anything. No money lost. But the whole thing felt like a runaround from the start.
