Job offer on Indeed turned out to be a fake check scam

I filled out a job application on Indeed for an Entry Level Authorization Specialist. It was supposed to be at a dealership and fully remote. The interview was through Microsoft Teams and text messages.

They sent me a fake offer letter and everything looked real. Then they emailed me a check to buy equipment. That’s when I got a weird feeling about the check and stopped. I didn’t deposit it or anything.

Their website was airbornellc.com and the number they used was 1(833) 962-6609. They listed an address in San Francisco but I don’t know if that’s real. I lost $5.00 somehow but not the full amount they wanted.
