Texted about a car rental that turned into a Cash App request
I was looking on itwhip.com for a car rental. They say it's peer to peer. I emailed about a reservation for a driver under 25. They got back to me and said the owner agreed, but needed a bigger security deposit.
Then I was texting with the owner directly. We were going back and forth about the rental agreement. Next thing I know, they're asking me to send payment through Cash App. They even told me to split the payment into two parts, saying Cash App had good fraud protection so it was safe.
I tried to send the money, but Cash App itself stopped the payment. They put up a warning that it might be a scam. The payment never went through. The whole thing just felt off after that.
