Caller claimed someone tried to open Target card in my aunt’s name

The caller reached out to my aunt on her cell phone. He said his name was James White and someone tried to open a credit card in her name for a Target Mastercard but it wasn’t approved. Then he gave her the last four digits of her social security number and asked her to verify it. She said no. Then he asked her to confirm her last name. She said no again. Then he told her to call him back at (507) 763-6219 tomorrow after 10am. She didn’t call back. He said he was from Peoria, IL. No website or anything. She didn’t lose any money but it felt off.
