Hired someone off Next door who tried to get me to send a second payment

I hired this person named Jermari Martin off the Next door App. He never said he was part of any company. I was told to send the money to his phone number on Cash App, so I did. After I sent it and let him know, he said he didn't receive it. Then he sends me a company name and tells me to send a payment there instead.

That felt off, so I contacted Cash App and I even called the police. Both of them told me not to send that second payment. He never mentioned a company until after the first payment didn't go through for him, or so he says.
