Email from fake owner asking for payment on a huge invoice

An email came in from who they said was the "Owner" of the company. The email address was [email protected], which I guess should have been a red flag. It went straight to our accounting department saying we needed to pay an overdue invoice.

The invoice they attached was for $76,082.57. That's a lot of money. It had all the TD Banking info on it for an EFT or wire transfer. The account name was "Jerry ********" and the branch address was 10864 Whyte Ave NW, Edmonton, AB. They also listed a different address, 10240 Kingsway NW, and an email, [email protected].

It felt off. We didn't owe that money. No money was lost on our end, but it was a pretty convincing fake invoice. Just wanted to report it.
