Emailed about a remote job and paid for a background check that was fake

I got this email saying I was short-listed for a remote data entry job. Sounded pretty good honestly. They told me to take a skills assessment first.

Then they said I had to pay $9.99 for a background check. They promised they would reimburse me for it. So I paid it. Their website is jnrmedicalstaffingsolutions.com and they have an address in Montreal and an email [email protected].

Never heard back after that. No job, no reimbursement. Just out the ten bucks. Felt strange after I sent the money but I already did it.
