Paid for a dog from joyshepherddogs.com and got scammed

I found the website joyshepherddogs.com and it looked totally legitimate, even up to date. I was emailing with someone at [email protected] and they asked a lot of normal questions about my home, my vet, my experience with dogs. It all seemed fine so I sent the $650 by etransfer. The money auto-deposited to an account under the name “Kwame Owusu,” which was the first red flag.

The next day, I got an email from the supposed shipping company saying I had to pay another $1000 for mandatory pet insurance. But pet insurance isn’t mandatory here in Canada. That was the second big red flag. I contacted joyshepherddogs right away to ask for a refund.

I never heard back from them. After I looked at other reports, I see people who paid that $1000 insurance fee then got asked for even more money for a crate or other things. The whole thing is a scam.
