Month to month rent charged twice with no warning from Kennett 776

My husband and I moved into Kennett 776 on April 8th 2025 and our lease was supposed to end April 7th 2026. The base rent was $2100. When our lease ended on April 7th we asked to go month to month. We paid the fee plus rent and utilities and said we wanted to move out May 7th since that would be the end of our month from April 7th. That was around $2800 total.

Then we checked our account and saw an extra $736.73 had been charged for 7 more days. Nobody ever told us in writing or even just said that we would be charged from May 1st to May 7th instead of the 7th to the 7th. When we told them what we thought the deal was they just ignored us until the 27th when they told us about the extra charges. On April 6th they said we had nothing owed.

We ended up paying the $736 just so it wouldnt go on our credit report but its a scam and those charges are not right.
