Contractor took thousands for a renovation and then quit the job

Gregory Kreiler from Kreiler's Renovation gave me a quote for $16,000 in labor for my renovation. I paid him half of that up front, which was $8,000. I also paid for all the materials myself, which was another $5,800.

After he started the work, he sent an email asking for another $2,000 in labor money upfront. I said no because not even half the work was done. Then he sent another email saying he was ending the agreement because of "communication difficulties." He hadn't even finished a quarter of the work.

Now he won't answer any phone calls or emails. He just disappeared with the money. This guy is completely unprofessional. I'm out thousands of dollars and the work isn't done.
