Wired nine thousand dollars for a 1967 Camaro that never showed up
They said we couldn't put the deposit on a credit card but we could wire the money from our bank. So we wired $9000 to get the car shipped. They said we could give the driver the rest in cash or wire it when the car got here. They are in Colorado and we are in Maine. They did say we could pay the deposit by credit card if we came in person.
Had the driver call to verify the address. They told us the car was loaded on the truck and would be here Sunday. Car never came. I have had a lot of training on fraud and this one just snuck past me. I was too focused on if the dealership was real and not thinking someone could just pretend to be them.
Website selling classic cars that do not exist
They are pretending to sell classic cars but the cars are not real. They took over the real business identity and are trying to get people to pay for cars that do not exist. I did not lose any money but it felt strange when I looked into it. No proof they actually have any vehicles.
