Hired for a virtual assistant job that felt off from the start

I got contacted through Handshake for a Virtual Assistant role. They sent me a link to message Andrew Staley for an interview and to move forward. The whole interview was done through messages, no video calls or anything, and I passed it.

Then they had me connect with Marco Elite Fuentes to get a check sent to me for expenses. They said I needed it to buy approved office equipment. Something just felt strange about it, so I looked it up and found it's a common scheme on ScamPulse.com, especially with fraud using Albatrans. I never cashed the check or lost any money.
