Text about a rental property that charged me for a credit report

I got a text from someone named Marye about a rental property. The pictures and description looked good so we were interested. They told us to go online and fill out an application.

The application was for a credit reporting agency. It charged me $29.95. I never heard back from them about the rental. It feels like it was just a way to get money for the credit check. The phone number they used was (762) 218-8150 and they said they were in Monroeville, AL.
