Got a fake text about a traffic ticket and registration suspension

I got a text message saying I had to pay a traffic ticket by March 3rd, 2026. It said if I didn't, they'd expire my vehicle registration and suspend my driving privileges for 30 days. They also mentioned a 35% fine increase and potential legal action.

The text had a link to a site, maryland.org-vgylg.bond/mva. The whole thing felt off. I didn't click the link. The message came from the phone number (917) 601-0415 and said it was from NY, USA. There was no ticket and I didn't lose any money, but it was clearly a phishing attempt.
