Hired online for Medcare but it turned out to be a job scam

I was hired by Medcare limited back in March 2026. Went through the whole onboarding process online, gave them all my personal info like you normally do when you get a new job. Never met anyone in person. They promised me $18 an hour, then $28 after training.

Did the training on Teams with 4 other people. Then they told me I had to order an iPad and an iPhone and send the equipment to some installer to put HIPAA software on it. They said I would get reimbursed for everything and they would pay the monthly payment. So I did send it. Before a week was up I started asking HR on Teams where my equipment was. Nobody would give me answers. That is when I realized it was a scam. Lost $20,000.
