Job on Indeed turned out to be a fake check scam

I saw this job posted on Indeed and applied for it. Did the interview questions they sent and everything. Got an acceptance letter saying I got the job which felt great at the time.

Then they sent me a check to cover the equipment I needed. They told me to send the money through Cash App. I did what they said. Later on I found out the check bounced and got returned. Now I'm stuck being liable for the whole 2500 dollars. I can't believe I fell for this.

Got a weird text about a job interview on Microsoft Teams

I got this text out of the blue. It said, "Hi, I saw you recently applied for a freelance proofreading role on LinkedIn. We're hiring for a similar position and would like to invite you to a quick chat. We conduct interviews via Microsoft Teams, so search for +12533407314 on Microsoft Teams chat and send a message."

I never applied for any proofreading job on LinkedIn. Nothing. It felt off right away. The whole thing was just a text message, and they wanted me to message some number on Microsoft Teams. I didn't reply or contact them. I looked up the phone number in the text and it came back to a scammer's line, (888) 765-3939. It was an employment scam. Luckily I didn't lose any money.

Got a text for a job interview that went to a Teams chat

I got a text message about a possible job interview. The person told me to get on Microsoft Teams and talk to someone. So I did, and we did the whole interview just typing in the chat on Teams.

He asked me specific questions about how I wanted to get paid. Then he said I did a great job and to meet him back on there at 8:30 for his feedback. They also asked for my location and my email address. I was pretty vague about where I live. The whole thing just felt off.

Got a fake job interview on Microsoft Teams asking for my credit card

I got a message about a job interview that was supposed to be on Microsoft Teams. I went to the meeting and they asked me for my name and address and a bunch of other personal stuff. Then they just said I had the job, just like that.

Right after, they told me I needed to send a screenshot of my credit card. They said it was to reimburse me for things I’d have to buy for the job. That’s when I knew it was a scam. The whole thing felt off from the start. The person contacting me used the phone number (720) 320-9618.
