Computer locked up, got a call from a fake Microsoft support number

My computer locked up after I clicked on a website. A number flashed up telling me to call 866-742-2336. So I called it. A man answered and got remote access to my computer.

He told me to log into my bank account. Then he said I needed to go to CVS and buy a $200 Apple gift card. I went to the store, but the clerk there stopped me and said it was a scam.

Later, I got a text from the same scammer. The text said my bank accounts would be frozen for six months. It's just awful. These people should be in jail.
