Got an official looking letter about my LLC renewal, paid $175

I got a letter about renewing my LLC license for Virginia. It looked very official, so I thought it was the real thing. I know my company needed to renew, so I went ahead and paid the $175 they asked for.

The letter had fine print, but the main part made it seem like it was from the government. I found out later it's from a company called Next Step Filings. Their website is nextstepfilings.net and the contact email is [email protected].

My letter was exactly the same as the other one reported here. I feel misled because it looked so official and I paid them the money.

Got a misleading letter about my business filing deadline

I got this letter saying my business had to file by March 31st to stay active. It demanded $175 to renew before the deadline. The whole thing looks official, but nowhere on the letter does it say it's an independent business and not actually from the state of Washington. It feels like they're misrepresenting themselves to get money from small businesses. The contact info was a phone number (888) 851-6604, a website www.nextstepfilings.co, and an address in Seattle.
