Job offer turned into fake check scam

I got an email from them about a job. They did a text based interview which felt a little weird but I went along with it. Then they sent me an offer letter and everything looked legit.

After that they mailed me a check for equipment purchase. They said I needed to buy stuff for the home office setup. I deposited it and spent some of the money on the equipment they told me to get. Turns out the check was fake and now I am out 2000 dollars.

The address they used was 40 Teasdale pl, Scarborough, ON. The email was [email protected]. I have not been able to reach anyone since.
