Charged $158 for a simple search on PublicRecords.us

I was on PublicRecords.us trying to find some information about a relative's arrest. Next thing I know, they charged me $158.00 for what was just a simple search.

I emailed their support at [email protected], and I tried calling the number they have, (888) 700-8184. They're supposed to be in Fayetteville, AR. But I couldn't get my money back. They just wouldn't give me a refund.

Signed me up for a subscription I never agreed to

I bought a property records package from Publicrecords.us. I agreed to a one-time charge, but they secretly signed me up for a subscription. Now they're taking that same amount from me every 15 days. I never signed up for that. The total they've taken is $9.95 so far. It was supposed to be a single purchase. This feels really underhanded.

Charged $25 for searches I never made on publicrecords.us

I used publicrecords.us to look up someone who owed me money. I paid $1 for those searches, which was fine. But now my credit card has two new charges from them—one for $5 and another for $20—for queries I definitely didn’t make.

I never authorized those charges. I’m going to try and get them taken off my card. It just doesn’t feel right to be charged for things I didn’t do.

Charged for a membership I never signed up for

I just wanted to pay $1 for a PDF report about my grandmother's property. That was it. The next day, I see two pending charges on my bank account—one for $9.95 and another for $7. I never approved those.

I called their help number, (888) 700-8184. The person told me that according to their "terms and conditions," I'd keep getting charged for some membership service unless I canceled it. I never agreed to any membership. They did refund the $16.95 after I called, but the whole thing feels like a scam.

Charges on my bill from a site I never used

I saw two charges on my credit card statement, one for $5.00 and another for $1.00, from publicrecords.us. I never signed up for anything with them. I called the number listed, (888) 700-8184. The person on the phone couldn't even tell me what I supposedly paid for. They couldn't access my account, which didn't make sense since they had my name and managed to put charges on my bill.

Then they said they wouldn't cancel my account unless I gave them the last eight digits of my credit card. I refused to do that. It felt completely off. I had to call my actual credit card company, Elan Financial Services, and they agreed to block all future charges from this publicrecords.us.
