Got a scary call about a fake lab work debt

I got a call from (276) 548-2662 saying I owed over $800 for some lab work. The guy said it was sent by some medical place and that no payment was made in 2024. He pressured me into giving my credit card number.

He put me on hold to run it, then came back and said it didn't go through. He asked me to repeat the number, saying he must have written it down wrong. When I asked for a copy of the bill, he got vague. He said several were sent and he couldn't give me any other info, just that it was for lab work. My husband came in and told me to hang up. Right before I did, the guy threatened 45% penalties and said it would go to collections and law enforcement.

I called my credit card company right away. They said they refused the charge and that it was under something called Select Admin Solutions. They told me it seemed extremely sketchy and recommended I cancel my card immediately, so I did.
