Instagram ad for windshield fluid ended up being a scam purchase

I saw an ad on Instagram for Windshield Repair Fluid and bought it on 2/18/2026. It was one of those interlaced ads right in my feed. I paid through PayPal Credit and got a receipt for $41.99, which was $39.99 for the product plus $2.00 for Shipping Insurance.

But then the charge on my PayPal Credit showed up as $54.59. No idea why the extra $12.60, I guess taxes or something. After a month of getting Tracking Update emails the package just stopped moving around 3/19/26. I emailed the seller at [email protected] and they refused to refund me because they said they couldn't get the product returned. Their website is www.smoderate.com and they are supposedly in San Jose, CA.
