Got a weird voicemail about a tax matter from a "special resolution unit"

I got a call and let it go to voicemail. The message was from someone named Brian Lopez saying he's with a special resolution unit. He said it was about a time-sensitive tax matter and that he needed to speak to me before my file went to final collections.

He told me to call him back at 833-727-9955. He said he was checking files flagged before some 2026 IRS deadline and that mine had unresolved items, like maybe a past balance or missing returns. He said he wanted to connect before it got passed on and that there might still be a way to help. He said he was available 9 to 5 for the rest of the week.

I've seen several calls like this with the same or a similar voicemail. It just felt off.
