Garage door repair ended up costing way more than quoted

I put in an estimate request on the speedy garage door website and got a call from 585-536-1585 right after. They said they could come out immediately. When they got here they quoted me somewhere between $1550 and $1950. I told them I wanted the expensive option. They fixed the broken spring on my garage door and then told me that to really make the door work they needed to replace the motor too. Then at the end of the visit they said they needed to be tipped 15% of the total. I ended up paying $3277.50 and I'm concerned about the quality of the work.

Scam Business

I called them on a Monday because my garage door came crashing down. After showing up hours late the guy (who struggled to speak English) tears apart my garage door, tells me the entire thing needs to be replaced and they'll order the parts and fix it in 2 days. I foolishly pay them a 1600 deposit for the job. 2 days later, no one comes or calls. 3 days later, no one comes or calls. Friday I call and tell them I need the garage fixed by this weekend because I need my car for work on Monday. They assure me someone will come by Sunday to fix the garage door. No one shows up or calls of course. I contact them, the "technician" tells me the repair guy can't come until Monday but he'll come and move the door so I can get my car out for work. You guessed it, no one came. I had to pay to take an Uber to work and rent a vehicle so I'd have transportation. I call them, very angry and they offer to send someone to my house while I'm at work. What good will that do? Meanwhile I realize that the phone number on their website has changed. Very shady and I realize I've been scammed out of $1600. DO NOT hire these people, they'll either flat out steal your money and provide no service or they'll charge you twice as much as anyone else. They quoted me 3,000 to replace my garage door, frame, etc. I called a reputable place and it was a $325 job to replace a few springs. Lets hope this place goes out of business before they can steal any more money!

Garage door guy put in wrong springs and would not fix it

I googled garage door repair and found Speedy Garage Door. An Indian guy showed up in a black pick up truck. He added more tension to the springs and the garage door opener, but it wasnt right.

I called another garage door co, and they told me Speedy had installed the wrong springs for the 800 lb weight of my solid door. I called to ask if he could come back out and put in the right springs. he said your garage door opens and closes and that was the job, and there is nothing else they could do for me.

I told him I would call the Better Business Bureau. He said tell them I did a good job. I can hear kids yelling in the background.

A guy with a very think accent very difficult to understand came to "fix" our garage door. Unfortunately, I was not home, and my wife did not press to stop the work before it started. The guy became loud and intimidating. My wife paid $4,000 for thousand dollars for a garage door fixing we not needed. We are trying to suit them, but it is not going to be easy to recoup that amount. It is a disgrace.
