Got a job interview request to message someone on Signal

I saw a job listing for a Data Entry position and they asked me to email my resume. A few days later, I got an email from a different address, [email protected]. It said I moved to the next stage and to reach a Mr. David C. on Signal with the username "david_church.87". They told me to download the app. The whole thing felt off. Why would a hiring team use a personal messaging app? I didn't lose any money, but it seems like a scam.
