Applied for a job and now they want to send me a check for equipment

I applied for an entry-level authorization specialist job with AirBorne LLC. But then I got contacted by this company called Techno Management. They are based out of Canada and Egypt.

The whole interview was just messaging on Teams. No face to face at all. And the one time they called me back it sounded like someone's personal phone, not a business line.

Now they are saying they want to mail me a check so I can buy my own onboarding equipment. That just feels off to me. I didn't go through with it.
