Phone call saying I qualified for a loan I never applied for

Some guy named Thadius called me from (844) 792-2157. He said I qualified for a loan that I had applied for. The thing is, I never applied for any loan. I don't know where he got my info.

He was talking about advance fees and stuff but I just told him I wasn't interested. I didn't lose any money but it felt really strange. Why would someone call saying I applied for something I never did? Just wanted to report it.
