Thought it was the government passport site but it was not

I was trying to apply for a passport and I clicked on a website that I thought was the real government website. It looked official enough I guess.

I gave them everything. My Social Security number, my address, my phone number, even my old expired passport number. All of it. I didn't realize until after that it was not the real government site.

The website is Unitedpassport.com. I did not lose any money but now I am worried about all my personal info being out there. I just feel stupid for not checking closer.

Paid $366 for free passport forms and now worried about identity theft

I went to Unitedpassport com thinking it was the real government site for passport stuff. It looked official enough. Paid $366 for what I thought was the right forms and processing.

Turns out it's just a third party company charging crazy money for stuff you can get for free on travel.gov. Now I'm freaking out because I gave them all my family's info. Passport numbers, birth dates, everything. I feel sick about it.

No company name on the letter they sent. Just an email [email protected] and an address in CA USA. This is a total scam. Do not make the same mistake I did.

Passport renewal site that looked like the government

This site came up first when I searched for "state department passport renewal" on Google. I honestly thought it was the actual State Department website so I went ahead and put in a ton of personal info.

I gave them my full identity information, my parents info, even my ex-husbands info. It was a lot of really sensitive stuff. Felt terrible when I realized it wasn't the real government site. Just a heads up for anyone else looking.

Website comes up first on Google but misrepresents itself as official

I was looking online to apply for a passport and found UnitedPassport.com. It comes up as the number one result on Google for passport application. The site misrepresents itself. It claims to be an official "State Department Registered" passport service, which makes it seem like it's a government site or officially approved. It's not clear at all that it's just a third-party service. This is really misleading when you're just trying to find the right place to get your passport.
