Website looks like official passport site but it is not
They charged me $350. After that they just sent me a filled out application for passport renewal and told me to go to the post office and pay the real government fee on top of what I already paid.
I gave them my social security number, my birth date, place of birth, all of it. I fell for it.
Passport website looked official but it wasn't
I paid $550.65 and thought I was done. But it turns out this is just a document-typing service or something. I didn't get any passport, and now I'm out the money. They are located in Sun Valley, CA. I don't even know how to get my money back. It felt like a total scam because they mimicked the government site so well.
Thought it was the government passport site but it was not
I gave them everything. My Social Security number, my address, my phone number, even my old expired passport number. All of it. I didn't realize until after that it was not the real government site.
The website is Unitedpassport.com. I did not lose any money but now I am worried about all my personal info being out there. I just feel stupid for not checking closer.
Paid $366 for free passport forms and now worried about identity theft
Turns out it's just a third party company charging crazy money for stuff you can get for free on travel.gov. Now I'm freaking out because I gave them all my family's info. Passport numbers, birth dates, everything. I feel sick about it.
No company name on the letter they sent. Just an email [email protected] and an address in CA USA. This is a total scam. Do not make the same mistake I did.
Passport renewal site that looked like the government
I gave them my full identity information, my parents info, even my ex-husbands info. It was a lot of really sensitive stuff. Felt terrible when I realized it wasn't the real government site. Just a heads up for anyone else looking.
Website comes up first on Google but misrepresents itself as official
