Job offer with a check to buy equipment seemed off

I got an email from someone named Alfonzo at uplightusa.com about a job. They said I was hired and they would send me a check for equipment I needed to buy from their vendor. The address they gave was 2490 Junction Place in Boulder CO.

The whole thing felt strange right away. They sent a check for way more than what the equipment should cost and wanted me to deposit it and send the extra back. I never even talked to anyone on the phone. I looked up the company and the website is uplight.com but the email was from a different domain.

I did not deposit the check and I did not lose any money but this is definitely not a real job. Just wanted to put it out there so nobody else falls for it.
