Call about children’s medical bills that might not be real
I got a call from this number (866) 966-9580 and the person said they were from UPMC. They had details about my kids by name, with bills and dates of service. The caller sounded American, not robotic or anything, and honestly it didn’t seem suspicious at first because UPMC has called me before about collections.
But when I asked if this bill was a duplicate of something I already paid, they couldn’t explain it. That’s when I started feeling weird about it. I gave them some low-risk personal info before I thought too much about it.
After the call I called UPMC directly and they told me that number isn’t theirs. So either some Americans are helping run this or it’s a really high-tech scam. No money lost but still not good.
