Paid $189 for a passport renewal that turned out to be a scam

I was trying to renew my son’s passport and found this website uspassport-online.org. It looked official enough. I filled out the forms and paid $189. They sent me some documents by email and told me to mail them in at the post office.

When I went to the post office the clerk told me it was a scam. My son is a minor so the whole thing was wrong anyway. They just filled out the paperwork and charged me for it. I had to pay another $167 at the post office to do it the right way. So I lost $189 for nothing.
