Job offer for remote data entry that felt off from the start

I got an email from someone saying they were a recruiter and gave me the email for vascular therapies inc. The job was supposed to be remote data entry for 31 an hour which already seemed like a lot. They had me do an assessment and after I finished they sent an offer letter.

Then in the offer letter they said they needed to send me a check to buy some software. That really did not sit right with me. I looked up their website and it was only created 2 weeks ago.

The person I was emailing with was named Jessica Williford. I never gave them any money but the whole thing felt like a scam from the start.
