Got a scary text about my car warranty after I bought a car

After I bought my car, I got this text. It said their records show I didn't contact them to activate my vehicle contract. It said if my factory warranty expired, I'd have to pay for repairs myself. But it said I could still activate a service contract before it's too late and to call 1-888-4969.

So I called the number. The person who answered just yelled at me for not following up sooner. They said I hadn't paid my bill for an extended warranty. It felt really aggressive and off. I ended up calling my actual auto service desk, and they told me straight up it was a scam. The whole thing was just a stressful mess.
