Got a scam call pretending to be from my bank's fraud department
Then he asked me to open my bank account on my phone right then so he could make sure I could still get into it. That felt really off to me. I told him I would go to my actual branch to investigate this fraud myself. I hung up on him and marked the phone number as a scam. The number was (802) 466-6734.
Someone pretending to be Wells Fargo called me with my social security number
They told me someone was trying to charge $2637.00 on my account. I said that wasn't me. Then they wanted me to verify my credit card number. I said okay, you read me the last four digits. They wouldn't do it, they just tried to get me to read my whole card number to them. I didn't do it. I hung up.
I called my real Wells Fargo right after. They told me no one was trying to charge anything and that the people who called me were trying to scam me. But they had my social security number. That really worries me. I'm just glad I didn't give them my card number.
