Called saying I was being sued over an old credit card debt

I got a call from someone saying I owed on an old credit card and that I was being sued. They offered to set up payment arrangements for $399.14 a month for 12 months. I went along with it for the first two months.

After that I called to see if I could settle for a lesser amount. The number at the bottom of the letter they sent didn't have a message like I would expect from a law firm. It just said leave a message. So I tried to google the company and saw it was a scam. I lost $798.28 total.
