Someone did work at my house and won’t show receipts or a license

I had this person do work at my property. I asked him to show me receipts for the product he bought and he can’t prove it or show me anything. I also asked if he was a real business.

He told me I can either pay him or he will come to my house and pull up the sod and dirt. I have text messages between us. I am paying him today because I don’t want to lose my grass and dirt. But I don’t think he got the product legally because he won’t show proof of purchase so I can pay the price. He also hasn’t shown me a business license.
